Steve Profeta had his best season thus far in a Red Flash uniform in 2007-08 when he averaged 4.4 ppg and 1.3 rpg in just under 12 minutes a game...had a career-best 78.6 percent success rate from the charity stripe...is a strong defensive guard who makes good decisions...has played in 76 games during first three season...hit one of the more memorable shots during the 2005-06 season when h hit the game-winning basket at the buzzer in a thrilling 52-51 win against Central Connecticut State, at DeGol Arena.Junior Year (2007-08) Played in 27 of 29 games, including one start, as a junior...had career highs with 118 points, 13 steals (tie), 26 three pointers and a .786 free throw percentage...had a career high 14 points, a career high 4 three-pointers, 4 rebounds and 1 steal in NEC-opening win at Robert Morris (12/8/07)...scored 6 points and pulled down 1 rebound in 13 minutes off the bench in win over Lock Haven (12/15/07)...came off the bench to tie career high with 14 points and added 2 rebounds and 1 assist at Duquesne (12/22/07)...had 8 points, and 1 steal off the bench vs. Quinnipac (1/3/08)...tallied 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a career-tying 2 steals in 25 minutes against Monmouth (1/5/08)...had 5 points and 2 assists in just four minutes of action in win over CCSU (1/26/08)...tallied 6 points and 2 assists in just 9 minutes against LIU (2/7/08)...had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists against FDU (2/9/08)...tallied 8 points, 4 rebounds and a block and made 3-of-3 free throw attempts at Sacred Heart (2/16/08)...had 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 teal in 17 minutes off the bench against Wagner (2/21/08).
Sophomore Year (2006-07)
Profeta saw action in 20 games as a sophomore, playing primarily in a defensive role behind Devin Sweetney...played 10 minutes in SFU’s season-opening win over Lock Haven (11/18/06), and recorded 2 points, 2 rebounds, and assist and a steal...scored 5 points and had 2 rebounds in win over St. Bonaventure (11/20/06)...had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 9 minutes against Robert Morris (1/23/07)...made one 3-pointer in season-high 14 minutes in win over St. Francis-NY (2/15/07).
Freshman Year (2005-06)
Highlight of his freshman season came when he hit a running jumper at the buzzer to defeat Central Connecticut State, 52-51, at DeGol Arena...played in 27-of-28 games, averaging 19.1 minutes, 3.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg to go along with 8 blocks and 13 steals...scored 4 points, had 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in collegiate debut against Cornell (11/8/05)...pulled down 4 rebounds against Bethune-Cookman (11/9/05)...dished out 3 assists and had 1 steal at Penn State (12/18/05)...scored 2 points and had 1 steal in first career start at La Salle (12/28/05)...scored career high 9 points behind 3-of-4 shooting, at Fairleigh Dickinson (1/6/06)...had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block against Long Island (1/12/06)...had 5 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals against Saint Francis-NY (1/14/06)...scored a career-high 11 points, had 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in helping lead Saint Francis to a win at Wagner (1/19/06)...had 6 points and a career high 6 rebounds against Monmouth (1/28/06)...had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists at Mount Saint Mary’s (2/4/06)...hit game-winning shot at the buzzer to defeat Central Connecticut State (2/12/06), and scored 8 points while pulling down career-tying 6 rebounds...had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks at Long Island (2/18/06).
Chartiers Valley HS
Profeta averaged 16.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 5.1 apg, 2.2 spg and 2.1 bpg as a senior at Chartiers Valley, where he played for head coach Tim McConnell...led the Colts to a 21-7 record during senior season when he made 76-of-193 (39.4 percent) of his 3-point attempts...averaged 14.5 ppg and made 69 3-pointers during junior campaign...led the Colts to a WPIAL Class AAAA championship in 2004-05...graduated high school with a 4.1 GPA, and scored 1,210 on his SATs.
