BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 6, 2009) – Hanna Yttring (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymasiet) continued her success for the Saint Francis swim team as the Red Flash competed in the Thomas Murphy Invitational at Loyola in Baltimore, Md., on Friday.

In day one of competition, Yttring took first place in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:09.41.  Teammate Jessica Dunn (Bristow, Va./Seton School) took third in the event.

Freshman Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) finished third in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 24.74.  Elise Merrill (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) was right behind her in fourth place.

The Red Flash 800-yard freestyle relay team of Yttring, Ford, Melissa Heintz (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) and Blair Kosela (Crescent. Pa./Moon Area) touched the wall in a time of 2:00.55, good enough for third place.

SFU leads Johns Hopkins 48-37, but trails Loyola 55-50 as well as Richmond 64-25 after one day of competition.  The meet will resume tomorrow.
