LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2009) – Saint Francis swimmer Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) was named the Northeast Conference Swimmer-of-the-Week on Tuesday, marking the second consecutive week a Red Flash swimmer has received the honor.   SFU defeated St. Bonaventure 153-154 and Mount St. Mary's 100-67.

Junior Hanna Yttring (Gothenburg, Sweden/Hawaii) earned the award last week for her performance against Cleveland State.  

Ford finished first in every individual event she competed in and was also a member of two-first place relays over the weekend.  She swam a 25.16 in the 50-yard freestyle against Saint Bonaventure, taking first place.  Ford also won the 100-yard freestyle (54.08) and was a member of the winning 400-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams against the Bonnies.   The medley relay team established a new school record of 4:01.59.

On Saturday at Mount St. Mary’s, Ford earned a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:03.29.  She also won the 200-yard freestyle and was a member of the first place 400-yard freestyle team.

The Red Flash will compete at Bucknell with Duquesne on Saturday.  They are currently 3-0 on the season.
