EMMITSBURG, Md. (Oct. 24, 2009) – The Saint Francis swim team won all but one event in a 100-67 victory over Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday in Emmitsburg, Md.  The win was also their first conference victory of the season. 

The Red Flash started off with a bang, taking first in the 200-meter medley relay.  The team of Hanna Yttring (Gothenburg, Sweden/Hawaii), Chloe Pierre (Mars, Pa,/Mars), Elyse Dobrick (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Blair Kosela (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) touched the wall in 2:01.50.

Sophomore Jessica Dunn (Bristow, Va./Seton School) won the next event, the 800-meter freestyle, in a time of 9:034.47.  Teammate McKenzie Madore (State College, Pa./State College Area) took third in the race, while Elise Merrill (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) claimed fourth.
 
Freshman Alicia Ford (Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point) won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:12.96.  She also earned a win in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:10.64.  Melissa Heintz (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) earned a win in the 50-meter freestyle in a time of 28.64.

In the 400-meter Individual Medley, Erin Bieger (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) earned a win, finishing in a time of 5:25.07.  Fellow rookie Kathleen Lyon (King George, Va./King George) won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:07.23.  Freshman Laura Harmon (Shippensburg, Pa./Chambersburg YMCA) was the fourth freshman to earn a win, claiming the 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:24.28.

NEC Swimmer-of-the-Week Yttring earned an individual win with a time of 1:00.74 in the 100-meter freestyle.

SFU rounded out the meet with a victory in the 400-meter freestyle relay.  The quartet of Lyon, Heintz, Ford and Kim Davis (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) touched the wall in a time of 4:09.03.

The Red Flash will compete at Bucknell with Duquesne University on Saturday, October 31, in Lewisburg.
