HAMDEN, Conn. (Nov. 1, 2009) – Kate Vitali (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) had eight saves but the Saint Francis field hockey team couldn’t find its offense as the Red Flash were shut out 3-0 by Quinnipiac in the season finale in Hamden, Conn., on Sunday.

Kaitlyn Notarriani scored eight minutes into the contest off of a feed from Lauren Hartnett to put the Bobcats up 1-0.   Vitali made three saves to keep the Red Flash within one by halftime.

In the second half, Hartnett fed a pass over to Christine Grady, who notched her fourth goal of the season to put QU up 2-0 a little more than 13 minutes in.  Kimberly Cuniff sealed the deal at 3-0 off of a penalty corner with less than a minute remaining in the game.

Rebecca Reiff (Wall, N.J./Wall) had SFU’s only shot, as the Red Flash were out shot 18-1.

Saint Francis finishes the season at 2-16 overall and 2-6 in the Northeast Conference.  They are tied with Siena for seventh in the league.
