Our Team
The Renewable Energy Center works with a variety of people and organizations to accomplish its goal of supporting community- and home-based high performance energy systems. The Center’s program consultants lend their technical expertise; funders provide financial support; the advisory board helps the Center connect to resources, think strategically, and constantly improve our services; and our partners enhance the effectiveness of our work.
Staff
Erik Foley

Erik Foley is the co-founding Director of the Renewable Energy Center at Saint Francis University. Erik oversees operations and directs the Center’s strategic planning, business development, and fundraising activities. Erik is a member of the American Council on Renewable Energy's National Communications Committee and Department of Environmental Protection’s Energy Events Steering Committee.
Erik’s background includes 12 years of non-profit environmental work as a project manager, freelance writer, community outreach coordinator, and educator including 2 years serving in the United States Peace Corps in Paraguay, South America.
Erik earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Environmental Studies from Whitman College (Washington state) in 1996 and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Saint Francis University in 2004. Check out Erik's blog

Chrysa Wyland

Chrysa Wyland is the Center's Office Assistant and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
She lives with her family on a farm outside of Loretto, where they raise beef cattle along with a multitude of other animals. She is the mother of four children who attend Saint Michael’s School in Loretto where she is starting a cheer squad this fall and is involved in other volunteer activities. Ms. Wyland is active in the community and church helping to start a "mommy and me" group for mothers of young children to get together once a week to offer support and friendship.
She is hoping to bring education to Saint Michael’s school and community about Renewable Energy and how important it is for our children’s future.

Melvin Ingram

Melvin Ingram is a summer intern turned work study at the Renewable Energy Center. He is a senior Computer Science major here at Saint Francis University. While with the center he has helped us redesign the Center's website and manage the PennWAP program.

Julianna Kowatch

Julianna Kowatch is involved in the work-study program at the Renewable Energy Center. At the center, she helps with the everyday tasks that are encountered by using organizational and secretarial skills. At Saint Francis University, Julianna is a sophomore Physical Therapy student with minors in Biology and Neuroscience. She is also involved with the Honors Program, Pep Band, Chorus, Best Buddies, Physical Therapy Organization, and Intramural Flag Football.

The Center's Advisory Board is made up of regional and national industry, business, community, and academic leaders. The Board keeps the Center's programs constantly improving and responsive to the needs of funders, partners, and clients.
The Center establishes and works through partnerships in industry, government, and the non-profit sectors in Pennsylvania and around the country in order to offer the highest quality information, resources, and services. Our clients directly benefit from our ability to offer low cost/no cost resource assessment, project consulting, and education services. Obviously, all of these activities cost money which is provided by forward-thinking foundations, agencies, and private individuals who want to support community-based, economically viable solutions to environmental problems.
