 Our Impact*
  • 2005 Green Power Award Winner
  • PA's first and only state-based wind assessment program, the Community Wind Project
  • we worked hard with $600,000 of seed funding to generate (so far) $80 million in proposed community wind projects in Pennsylvania -- enough potential power for 12,000 U.S. homes
  • PA's first and only Renewable Energy Directory with listings of 60+ companies (and growing)
  • we educate and connect with resources around 2,000 people, schools, municipalities, and businesses a year - helping them save money
  • we've sponsored research by 8 REC faculty from business, sociology, biology, computer science and math
  • over 30 Saint Francis students have gotten real-life work and research experience as interns, work studies and graduate assistants
  • we've innovated new ways to get business and environmental people collaborating to responsibly develop energy solutions
  • we've attracted new business to Pennsylvania
  • we've connected Pennsylvania with national and international experts, researchers, manufacturers
  •  we've put the idea of COMMUNITY-BASED ENERGY development on the kitchen table and the policy table in Harrisburg

*and currently we're just two paid positions plus some great help. . .superb students, talented faculty, a dedicated Advisory Board and consultants, and many partners across the state

"In the evening I take your phone number out of my pocket and put it on my dresser.  In the morning I put it back in again.  That's how valuable it is."

"I was in the audience when you gave your presentation and I wanted you to know that I was very impressed.  It was obvious that you knew your material extremely well, but most of all, I loved your pragmatic style in looking at meeting our energy needs."

Center Makes Wind Data Available to the Public
Wind data is valuable not only for project development but also to better understand the wind resource across a particular region, for climatologists, and for wildlife conservationists interested in how birds use the wind.  The Center has created a way to make its analyzed and raw wind data available to the public and other professional organizations.

Community Wind Project is Open for Applications
The Center's very popular wind assessment program, the Community Wind Project, is again accepting applications.  The Project offers wind assessment at no upfront cost to public and private entities owning land in Pennsylvania.  Harvest the wind for your community or business.
