Physical Therapy Program

 Presentation Day 2008 

The Department of Physical Therapy held its tenth annual Presentation Day formerly known as Poster Day, on Friday, March 7, 2008.  Presenters were DPT 3 students enrolled in special topics courses as well as several interdisciplinary students from other health majors.  These courses allow additional opportunity for students to explore an area of interest and advanced study related to PT or interdisciplinary rehabilitation. 
The students worked in small groups with a faculty mentor.

EXPLORING AND DEFINING THE ROLE OF SPIRITUALITY IN HEALTHCARE

PURPOSE:  To evaluate existing evidence on the role of spirtiuality in healthcare

THE ROLE OF PHYSICAL THERAPISTS WITH POST-SURGICAL TOTAL HIP ARTHROPLASTIES:  AN INQUIRY ABOUT REHABILITATION AND FUNCTIONAL OUTCOMES FOR TWO COMMON SURGICAL APPROACHES

Purpose:  To evaluate the evidence concerning the role of physical therapists for post-surgical patients total hip arthroplasties (THA) and the functional outcomes for two common surgical approaches.

THE ETIOLOGY AND PREVENTION OF ACHILLES TENDON INJURIES IN ATHLETES

Purpose:  To indentify etiologies among athletes with Achilles tendon injuries.  The information within in the literature will be used to create a screening process in order to make recommendations to preclude Achilles tendon pathologies.

Purpose:  To propose cervical involvement as a possible etiological factor contributing to
scapular dysfunction manifesting as shoulder impingement
