Background and Personal Interests: Dr. Malek is somewhat of a “late bloomer” having started in her mid-thirties to college for the first time as a non-traditional student, beginning at the community college level with the acquisition of her degree as a physical therapist assistant, and culminating in 2006 with her doctorate in adult education. She believes that education is a lifelong pursuit and that everyone should embrace any opportunity that knocks when it comes to learning new and interesting things. Prior to her college career she was a franchise owner, area manager and instructor in the national dance fitness program, Jazzercise, so she has an indwelling enjoyment of movement, music and dance. As a parent of two adult sons, and 4 grandchildren, she spends every spare minute of her free time playing and learning from her family. Recent Publications and Presentations:
