Belize
In March 2008, four Saint Francis University MPAS students traveled to the Stann Creek and Orange Walk districts of Belize to spend five weeks providing medical care to the indigenous people of the area. The students seen over 1, 170 patients with problesm ranging from headaches to acute appendicitis.
Honduras

During Spring Break, 2008, a medical team consisting of a PA, 2 clinical year PA students (Sarah Dodge and Marisa Roach), 4 didactic year PA students (Carrie Burkholder, Marrisa Gaydosh, Lindsay Stotler, and Jessie Starr), and one nursing student (Meg Seale) traveled to Honduras. They set up clinics in remote, underserved areas outside of El Progreso, Honduras.

They saw approximately 400 patients during 5 days of clinics. Most of the patients had not received any medical care for over a year, since the last time a medical mission group came to their area. The people are so far out of the city, the roads are horrible, they have no transportation, and even if they did they have no money to buy medications. They saw many cases of asthma and other respiratory diseases, intestinal parasites, ear infections, skin infections and other skin disorders. All the patients were very grateful for all the care we gave them. Many were happy to just receive some Tylenol for their children. It was a very eye opening experience, one none of them will ever forget.
