Physical Assistant Program

 

Didactic Curriculum

The MPAS Program didactic year (professional phase - year 01) is designed on the medical model to prepare students to become primary care clinicians. The three-semester curriculum is built around core courses in clinical medicine (CM), anatomy and physiology (A&P), history-taking/physical exam (H&P) and pharmacology. Other courses of study include infectious disease, behavioral medicine, emergency medicine, clinical skills, surgery, well child, public health and research methods. As part of applied anatomy and physiology, gross anatomy utilizes cadaver dissection to complement lecture presentation.  On average, didactic (first-year professional phase) students are in class from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (M-F) with occassional weekend responsibilities.  Please note, the Program does not grant any type of advanced placement for course within the professional phase. The didactic curriculum is as follows:
