Transfer Students

The MOT Program at Saint Francis University welcomes transfer students! Potential students may transfer as: 1) Pre-Professional Phase Students or as 2) Professional Phase Students.

1) Transfer into Pre-Professional Phase Transfer Students:

            Students who transfer into the MOT Program during the first two years will need to complete all requirements for the General Education Program at Saint Francis University. (NOTE: If a student transfers in 28 credits or more, CORE 101, 102, 103 & 104 will be waived) In this case, the potential student will need to complete an application form, send official transcripts and then a degree audit form will be completed to determine which credits will transfer and be applicable to the Occupational Therapy Program.

         Transfer students are required to have a cumulative 2.75 QPA in order to transfer into the MOT Program. Decision regarding transfer are made on a rolling basis, and as space permits.

2) Professional Phase Transfer Students:

           Students who possess a bachelor’s degree (in a discipline other than Occupational Therapy) already will only need to satisfy the Collateral Requirements with a grade of at least a “C” which include the following:

NOTE: These courses can be taken at Saint Francis University, or at another college or university, providing the courses are equivalent to those offered at Saint Francis University.
 

Applicants are required to submit the following to the Department of Occupational Therapy in order to be considered for admission:

1) A completed Application Form with a $30 (non-refundable) application fee to the Department of Occupational Therapy. Please make check payable to Saint Francis University.

2) Evidence of a completed baccalaureate degree from a fully-accredited institution.

3) Official transcripts from each college/university attended indicating an overall QPA of 2.75. Transcripts must be submitted from the college/university to the Saint Francis University Department of Occupational Therapy in sealed envelopes, or they will not be considered official.

4) A completed Collateral Course Check-off Form. with the above-noted Collateral Requirement Courses completed with a minimum grade of "C" in each course.

Descriptions for the Collateral Requirements are provided in the application packet. Applicants who believe they have taken an equivalent of the course(s) must provide the appropriate course descriptions and/or syllabi with their application so that the Department of Occupational Therapy can make a determination of equivalency.

5) Documentation of 50 hours (minimum) of volunteer or paid experience in Occupational Therapy. A copy of the Documentation Form for Occupational Therapy Observation Volunteer/Paid Employment Experience is provided in the application packet.

6) Current Course Enrollment Form if currently enrolled at another college/university. Upon completion of the coursework, an official transcript must be sent to the Department of Occupational Therapy.

7) Two professional recommendation (at least one from an Occupational Therapist) using the Professional Recommendation Forms provided in the application packet. These recommendations must be submitted to the Department of Occupational Therapy directly from the references in sealed envelopes.

8) Submit a brief typed essay (300 words or less): "Describe your personal characteristics that you believe will lead to your success in the Occupational Therapy profession."

9) International students must send official transcripts to an international agency to have transcripts converted to the United States academic scale.

Making Application:

Candidates should apply for admission by January 15 for the following summer semester. Applications received after the deadline may be considered if space is available in the class. The attached document allows completion of the application using Microsoft Word.

Graduate Housing Options:

Incoming graduate students are not currently eligible for campus housing. Many of our students lease apartments in Loretto. Some are within walking distance to campus. Other rental options are available within easy driving distance of Loretto.
