LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2006) – On the heels of a school-record eight-match unbeaten streak, the Saint Francis men’s soccer team has re-appeared in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) North Atlantic Regional Rankings, coming in at No. 8 this week.
The Red Flash are in the regional rankings for the first time since mid-September. Head coach B.J. Craig, and his squad, are currently 6-5-3 overall, and 3-0-2 in the Northeast Conference.
Saint Francis is 5-0-3 since coming within 30 seconds of defeating nationally-ranked No. 2 Virginia on Sept. 12th. The Red Flash have 11 points after five matches in conference playing, marking the best start to a conference schedule in program history.
Three Northeast Conference squads are ranked above Saint Francis in the regional rankings, one of which will be an opponent this coming weekend. The Red Flash will battle ninth-ranked Sacred Heart at 3 p.m. Friday, before taking on No. 3 Fairleigh Dickinson at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both games will be contested on the road.
Monmouth came in at No. 2, and Robert Morris is ranked sixth, in this week’s poll. Saint Francis played both sides to a tie on the road earlier this season.
