ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Sept. 22, 2006) – Sophomore midfielder Aaron Clapham (Christchurch, New Zealand / Aranui) scored for the second straight match, and junior goalkeeper Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, Calif. / Arroyo) stopped four shots, to lead the Saint Francis men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win against the College of Charleston Friday night, during the first match of the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association Classic.
It was the first career game-winning goal for Clapham, and the first career shutout for Williams. The Red Flash won their second straight match to improve to 3-5 on the season against a tough non-conference schedule. Saint Francis will be back in action at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday when it plays its final non-conference match of the season against American on the campus of the University of New Mexico campus.
Freshman midfielder Brent Brockman (Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern York) recorded his first career point on the goal by sending a perfect cross from right to left into the 18-yard box. Clapham hit the open net from about five yards out for his second goal of the season, and fifth of his career.
