Three Red Flash Men’s Soccer Players Garner All-NEC Honors

LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 1, 2006) – Saint Francis senior forward Scott Thompson (Durham, England / Lanchester Saint Bedes), junior defender Jarron Brooks (Mitchellville, Md. / Archbishop Carroll) and sophomore midfielder Aaron Clapham (Christchurch, New Zealand / Aranui) were all honored by conference coaches on Thursday by being named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team, at their respective positions.

Brooks received his third consecutive all-conference second team accolade in his first three seasons as a Red Flash defender, while Thompson and Clapham both earned their first career all-NEC honors.

In helping push the Red Flash to their third straight winning season, and No. 3 seed in the Northeast Conference Tournament, Brooks dished out a team-high five assists to rank third on the circuit. He also bolstered a defense that permitted just five goals in nine conference tilts.

Thompson and Clapham led a balanced Saint Francis attack with five goals and two assists apiece.

The Red Flash are 9-6-3 overall, and finished the Northeast Conference schedule 6-1-2 to secure the No. 3 seed in the Northeast Conference Tournament, which begins on Friday. They will face No. 2 Fairleigh Dickinson at 1:30 p.m., and are gunning for a spot in the conference championship match, which will be held at 12 p.m. Sunday.
