Blended Online Course Offering Course Closed
This is a blended online course that has only 3 meeting dates throughout the semester. As such, attendance at each of these 3 class meetings is mandatory for fulfillment of the course requirements. As well, given that students will be expected to participate heavily in the class through the use of interactive online tools such as discussion boards and chat room discussions, regular access to an Internet-connected computer is required. Students are expected to have the course text in their possession at the first course meeting as readings and discussion material will be assigned at that time. Blended Distance Education Course Offering
This is a blended distance education course that has only 4 classroom meetings throughout the semester. The first class of the semester will be a live class meeting on campus, Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30pm – 9:30pm. The other 3 mandatory in class meeting dates are listed on the tentative class schedule below. The remainder of the classes will taught using Virtual Classroom Software (called Wimba). With Wimba you have a computer, a web camera (optional), a headphone/microphone combination (required) that you plug into your computer. With this equipment you will be able to see and talk with your instructor. The class is still held for the same amount of time on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but you do not have to travel to the classroom. You just stay at home, connect using your computer at the appropriate time for class, and we all meet in cyber space at the same time.
Attendance to the 4 classroom meetings is mandatory for fulfillment of the course requirements. But, the Wimba classes are initially given live but they are recorded so that if you miss a class due to business travel you can see it at a later time. Additionally, if you happen to be traveling and you have a connection to the internet, you can participate in class from your hotel room. Of course, regular access to an Internet-connected computer is required to participate in this course. During this class the Wimba software and WebCT will be explained.
