Men’s Golf Wins Mount Saint Mary’s Fall Classic
LITTLESTOWN, Md. (Oct. 23, 2005) – Three Red Flash golfers finished in the top-5 as Saint Francis claimed its first team title of the 2005-06 season at the Mount Saint Mary’s Fall Classic held at Quail Valley Golf Course on October 22 and 23.
Junior Craig Alvaro (Saint Thomas, Ontario) and sophomore Matt Gowdy (London, Ontario) both tied for second place with two-day 7-over-par 151 totals. Sophomore Steve Foisy (Repentigny, Quebec) carded back-to-back rounds of 4-over-par 76 to finish in fifth place with a 152. Monmouth’s Anthony Campanile earned medalist honors with a two-day 4-over-par 148 total.
Junior Mike Hammond (London, Ontario) shot consecutive rounds of 79 to tie for 12th place (158), while freshman Kyle DeYulis (Ebensburg, Pa.) fired a second round 78 to move into a tie for 21st. Junior Nate Glass (Carrolltown, Pa.) placed 46th with a two-round total of 187 (99-88).
With the fall season complete, the Red Flash will aim for a Northeast Conference title in the spring. The NEC Championship will be held at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Orlando, Fla., on March 6 and 7.
