FARMVILLE, Va. (Apr. 2, 2007) – After a two-week layoff, the Saint Francis women’s golf team fired a two-round 340-352-692 to begin play at the Tina Barrett/Poplar Hill Invitational, which is being played Monday and Tuesday at the Poplar Hill Golf Club in Farmville, Va.
The Red Flash are in 12th place in the three-round, 13-team tournament. The final round will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Reigning Northeast Conference individual champion Samantha Milosh (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) leads Saint Francis with an 82-85-167, which is good for a 36th-place tie.
Freshman Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) is currently 42nd after shooting an 84-86-170, senior Megan Schaeffer (Richland, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon) fired an 85-86-171 and is in 47th, freshman Katelyn Waghorn (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) is 64th with an 89-95-184, and junior Stephanie Switzer (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver) is 69th with a 94-106-200.
Gardner-Webb currently paces all teams with 314-309-623 followed by High Point (309-316-625), Methodist (310-322-632), Old Dominion (310-325-635) and James Madison (324-317-641).
Long Island University is the only other Northeast Conference school that is participating. The Blackbirds are in ninth place with a 330-347-677
