Red Flash Maintain Top Spot After Day 2 at NEC Champs

HERSHEY, Pa. (Apr. 28, 2007) – After two days of competition, the Saint Francis women’s golf team holds steady at the top of the field at the 2007 Northeast Conference Championship. The defending champion tallied a 344 on the second day for an overall tally of 674, 10 strokes ahead of second-place Central Connecticut State (684).

Long Island remains in third with a two-day total of 691, while Sacred Heart is in fourth with 700. Besting its previous round by 12 strokes, Robert Morris is in fifth place with a two-day total of 708, jumping ahead of Monmouth by 10 strokes.

Saint Francis is competing for its second straight conference title, and seventh overall in the past nine years.

Red Flash junior Samantha Milosh (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) continues on her impressive pace, scoring an 84 in second-round action for a two-day total of 156 (72-84). CCSU freshman Lucie Sarochova is second with a two-round 81-82-163.

Senior Megan Schaeffer (Richland, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon) is sixth overall for Saint Francis with a two-day 84-85-169. Junior Stephanie Switzer (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver) is tied for 13th (86-87-173), freshman Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) is tied for 17th (88-88-176), and freshman Katelyn Waghorn (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) is 30th (95-91-186).

The third and final day of competition of the Northeast Conference women’s golf tournament will tee off at 8 a.m. on Sunday. The conference championship is a three-day, 54-hole event. Team scores are calculated by adding the team’s four lowest scores from each day. The top-10 finishers are selected as all-NEC performers
