Saint Francis Wins Seventh Northeast Conference Title

HERSHEY, Pa. (Apr. 29, 2007) – For the fifth time in six years, and the seventh time overall, the Saint Francis women’s golf team has won the Northeast Conference championship after concluding the three-day, 54-hole course at the Hershey East Golf Course with a final tally of 330-344-331-1005.

Winning her second consecutive individual title was junior Samantha Milosh (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center), who racked up a three-day total of 72-84-78-234 after firing a seven-over-par 78 in the final round of action. She was nine strokes better than her nearest competitor.

Central Connecticut State finished a distant second with a 1024, while Long Island took third (1031), Sacred Heart took fourth (1037) and Robert Morris finished fifth (1065).

The Red Flash will now represent the Northeast Conference at the 2007 NCAA Women’s Golf Regional Tournament. The 26th annual NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship selection will be on Monday, Apr. 4th at 4 p.m. on ncaasports.com.

Red Flash senior Megan Schaeffer (Richland, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon) finished her career as a four-time All-Northeast Conference honoree. She took sixth in this weekend’s tournament with an 84-85-78-247.

Junior Stephanie Switzer (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver) finished in a tie for 15th place with an 86-87-87-260, freshman Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) tied for 22nd with an 88-88-95-271, freshman Katelyn Waghorn (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) was tied for 25th win an 95-91-88-274
