Red Flash Women’s Golf Second after Day 1 of NEC Championship
ORLANDO, Fla. (April 29, 2006) – Saint Francis University sophomore Samantha Milosh (Aliquippa, Pa.) carded an opening round 9-over par 81 to lead the Red Flash to a second place team total of 341 following the first day of competition of the Northeast Conference Women’s Golf Championship, held at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course in Orlando, Fla.
Monmouth has a nine-shot lead in the battle for the team championship, while Long Island trails Saint Francis by five.
Milosh is in a tie for third place with Robert Morris’ Rachael Malenich, four shots behind first round leader Rae Johnson of Monmouth.
Junior Megan Schaeffer (Richland, Pa.) fired a 10-over 82 on the par 72, 5,919-yard Lake Buena Vista course and is in a tie for fifth place with Wagner’s Caitlin Miller. Senior Mary Kate Williams (Somerville, N.J.) is in 10th place after a 12-over 84. The top 10 performers earn all-conference recognition. Sophomore Stephanie Switzer (Beaver, Pa.) is 27th following a 22-over 94.
The final round tee times start at 7:30 a.m., on Sunday.
