Red Flash Men’s Golf Team Finishes 27th at NCAA Regionals
CHARDON, Ohio. (May 20, 2006) – Sophomore Steve Foisy (Repentigny, Ontario, Canada/Academie Les Estacades) carded a final round 10-over-par 82 to finish the Saint Francis men’s golf team’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Regionals with a team-best 75-74-82-231, on Saturday at the Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio.
The Red Flash finished 27th place with a 324-304-316-944. Oklahoma State won the team race with a 280-285-280-845.
Junior Nick Wheeler (Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada/Ingersoll Collegiate) followed Foisy with a three-day 81-75-79-235, junior Mike Hammond (London, Ontario, Canada/Catholic Central) had an 80-77-80-237, sophomore Matt Gowdy (London, Ontario, Canada/A.B. Lucas) finished at 88-78-76-242, and junior Craig Alvaro (Saint Thomas, Ontario, Canada/Parkside Collegiate) carded a 89-90-81-260.
The Red Flash earned their way into their first-ever NCAA Regional by winning the school’s first Northeast Conference men’s golf championship two weeks ago. Head coach Bob Hahn was named the conference’s coach-of-the-year for his team’s efforts.
