EMMITSBURG, Md. (Apr. 16, 2007) – Freshman Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) had her best career tournament by firing a round of 84 to help lead the Saint Francis women’s golf team to a second-place finish at the Mount St. Mary’s Spring Thing on Sunday afternoon.
The second round of the tournament was cancelled due to the winter storm forecast for Monday.
The Red Flash earned the tournament's second spot with a round of 347. Towson took won the event with a 342 and Mount St. Mary’s finished third with a 364.
Kocin shot a 41 on the back nine to finish in a first-place tie with Towson’s Morgan Reich. Senior Megan Schaeffer (Richland, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon) took fifth with an 85, junior Samantha Milosh (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) and freshman Katelyn Waghorn (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) tied for seventh with a round of 89, and junior Stephanie Switzer (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver) took 13th with a 98.
Saint Francis will return to action on Friday and Saturday when they play in the Kutztown Spring Invitational.
