Milosh Picks Up First NEC Golfer of the Week Award
LORETTO, Pa. (April 19, 2006) – Saint Francis University sophomore women’s golfer and reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year Samantha Milosh (Aliquippa, Pa.) was chosen the NEC’s Golfer of the Week for her top-10 finish at Toledo’s Rocket Spring Classic on Tuesday.
Milosh fired back-to-back sub-80 rounds to close out the three-round Rocket Spring Classic to finish in a tie for seventh place in the 57-player field. After opening with a 9-over par 80 on the par 71, 5,882-yard Dornoch Golf Club layout, Milosh cemented her second top-10 finish of the year with a 5-over 76 on Monday afternoon and a 6-over 77 on Tuesday. Her 76 on Monday was the fourth best round of the afternoon.
The Golfer of the Week honor is the first for Milosh, who was named the league’s Rookie of the Year following her seventh place finish at the 2005 NEC Championship. She leads the team this season with an 81.0 shots-per-round average.
Saint Francis will next compete at the Northeast Conference Championship, to be held at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., on April 29 and 30. The Flash will be looking for their record sixth crown in the eight-year history of the event.
