First Round of Lafayette Men’s Golf Invitational Washed Out

EASTON, Pa. (April 8, 2006) - The opening day of the Lafayette College Spring Invitational has been cancelled due to overnight rains that continued into late morning in the Lehigh Valley. Saint Francis and the field of 20 schools will play 18 holes on Sunday.

The Red Flash men’s golf team will look for its third consecutive team title at the Leopards Spring Invite on Sunday.  SFU won Mount Saint Mary’s Fall Classic in October to conclude the fall season, then opened the spring season with a victory at Monmouth’s Hawk Invitational.  Sophomore Matt Gowdy (London, Ontario) earned Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week honors after winning the individual title at the Hawk Invite.
