Study Abroad Opportunities at

Saint Francis University

Spanish in Mexico Program

In Saint Francis’ Study Abroad in Mexico Program, students fulfill their foreign language requirement in four weeks of total immersion study at the Center for Bilingual and Multicultural Studies in Cuernavaca, Mexico. The students live with Mexican families and take intensive Spanish courses from Mexican teachers at the Center.  Some students also take a religious studies course that fulfills an upper-division general education requirement.  Students in the program work at a local orphanage, experiencing first hand the lives of Mexican children, and complete writing assignments in which they connect their service experiences to the Franciscan values of a global vision, serving the poor and the needy, and respect for the uniqueness of individual persons.

French in Quebec Program

Students participating in Saint Francis’ Quebec Program fulfill their foreign language requirement in three to five weeks of intensive study at the Chicoutimi Language School in Quebec.  While attending classes, students live with local families or in campus residences in a French-speaking community.  The language school includes several day trips as part of its regular program and sponsors weekend trips to Quebec City and other locations at an extra cost.

Springtime in Italy Program

In Saint Francis University’s Italy program, students live in Parma, Italy, while completing their foreign language requirement and a general education religious studies requirement.  Weekend excursions to Florence and Assisi allow students to view some of Italy’s most beautiful architecture, monuments, and fine art and to develop a deeper appreciation of the vision, values, and life of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron and guide of Saint Francis University.

A group of students from Saint Francis traveled to Italy in the Spring of 2003. To receive information about their adventure click on the link below.
