BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 15, 2006) – The Saint Francis field hockey team peppered two UMBC goalkeepers with 10 shots, but the Retrievers combined for 7 saves on their way to handing the Red Flash a 2-0 loss on Friday night in Baltimore.
Junior forward/midfielder Annie Paccione (Red Hook, N.Y. / Red Hook) had four shots, while junior forward Caitlin Goodreds (Howell, N.J. / Howell) had two for Saint Francis. Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich. / Saint Phillips) stopped six shots for the Red Flash, but Mary Strain scored in the 16th minute, and Amanda Yanulevich iced the victory in the 57th minute.
Saint Francis dropped to 0-6 on the year, and will return home for a 12 p.m. contest against Colgate on Sunday afternoon.
Kat Tag made two stops in the first half, and Ashley Bentiz had five in the second half for the Retrievers, who improved to 1-5 with the win.
