| LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2006) – The Saint Francis University field hockey team showed a strong effort, but still fell short to Northeast Conference-leading Lock Haven, 3-1.
The Red Flash trailed 2-0 going into the half but drew first blood in the second period on an unassisted goal by Katie Grogan (Allenwood, NJ / Wall). Junior Annie Paccione (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook) had two shots on goal but was shut-out on the day.
The biggest offensive game however was posted by Lock Haven’s Samantha Stoyer who scored all three Eagles goals in her team’s win.
Stoyer’s big day came despite an impressive game in goal by Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, MI / Saint Phillips). Reifsteck made 12 of Saint Francis’ 13 saves against the Eagles. Leigh Ann Conroy notched a defensive save on a shot mid-way through the second half.
The Red Flash return to action Friday (Oct. 20, 2006) when they pay a visit to NEC rival Fairfield.
