AssistantProfessor - Exercise Physiology / Human Performance Lab Director

This exciting position will offer the qualified applicant the opportunity to teach in the newly developing undergraduate program in exercise physiology, and to direct the development of scholarly lines of research for the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) at the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness at Saint Francis University. The exercise physiology program has two tracks, one in Wellness & Health Promotion and the other with a Graduate Pre-Professional emphasis. Individuals with a clear research agenda, preferably in the areas of wellness, sports performance enhancement, chronic disease prevention, and community fitness particularly for underserved or rural populations are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in exercise physiology or related field (ABD's in the final stages of doctorate will also be considered), with demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses which may include introductory and advanced exercise physiology, nutrition, functional anatomy, biomechanics, exercise across the lifespan, exercise testing and prescription, and neuromuscular strengthening and conditioning. An individual with Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Health Fitness Specialist (HFS) certificate is preferred. The qualified individual will also be responsible for directing internship/practicum experiences for upper division students, which will initially involve regional travel for site development and management. In addition, this position has a dual emphasis on development and implementation of interdisciplinary outreach programming in the HPL housed in the new DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness, for students in the exercise physiology program, and also in collaboration with graduate level physical therapy and other health professional students. The possibility of start-up funds to pursue an existing or new line of research may be made available to a candidate with demonstrated experience in managing a human performance laboratory. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, student advising, and university service, participate in undergraduate research, as well as professional service as evidenced by maintaining membership and involvement in national and regional exercise science professional organizations.
Saint Francis University is a private, Franciscan institution, situated in the beautiful Allegheny Mountain region of southcentral Pennsylvania. The 600-acre mountaintop campus serves approximately 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students and is located midway between Pittsburgh and State College, Pennsylvania.

Telehealth Research Specialist

Saint Francis University’s Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Under-Served Areas (CERMUSA) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Telehealth Research Specialist. Among other duties, this position is accountable for study design including background research, conceptualization, implementation, data analysis and dissemination of data. Bachelor’s degree in health science (BSN desirable), good people skills and a background in budget development and administration is required. Knowledge of healthcare activities, education principles, and vocational rehabilitation principles is advantageous. Salary range: $40,000 - $45,000 commensurate with experience. Graduate Assistant - Institutional Research & Assessment

Position available for summer or fall 2009
The duties include compiling quantitative data, conducting literature searches, assisting in the production and dissemination of external reports, and performing some basic clerical tasks related to the general operation of the department. The skills needed for the position are: an excellent working knowledge of the MS office suite of software, (especially Excel, Access, and Power Point), and also some experience working with a recent version of the SPSS statistical package. Experience developing and maintaining web pages and with using publication software are also necessary. Other skills needed include an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability for detail and accuracy, and enjoy working with quantitative data in a research setting.
