Assistant /Associate Professor of Neurorehabilitation (Physical Therapy)
Search Status: Currently Accepting Applications

Position Description:
12-month tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor with a competitive salary and benefits package.  The position is available for the 2008/2009 academic year.

Qualifications: 
The successful candidate will have experiential knowledge and clinical expertise primarily in neuromuscular rehabilitation, as well as a strong background in acute care practice.  A physical therapist with a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, ScD) is preferred, however an applicant with a Neurological Clinical Specialist Certification pursuing a terminal degree may receive departmental support toward degree completion.  The candidate must be eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania, with a minimum of 5 years clinical and teaching experience. 

Opportunities within the Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual interested in teaching primarily in the program’s progressive neuromuscular curriculum.  Pediatrics and acute care practice are also potential areas of teaching in this faculty role.  The flexible nature of this position also offers the successful applicant the possibility of directing student research projects, as well as opportunities to engage in an existing or new research agenda.  These scholarly endeavors may be enhanced by the potential to develop research partnerships through collaboration with our community partners at the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness and the Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Underserved Areas (CERMUSA).  Faculty-led clinical practice opportunities will be available early in 2009 through our on-campus outpatient facility, which will be housed in the new 30,000 square foot DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness.  Numerous off-campus medical facilities and therapy clinics are also easily accessible for continued professional practice experiences.  In addition, the successful candidate is highly encouraged to participate in service to the university through committee involvement, student advisement, and community outreach activities.

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Saint Francis University invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2008.  Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate clinical psychology, abnormal psychology, and introductory psychology.  The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop new courses in their specialty.

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in community-based learning and/or multicultural psychology.  Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, use of active pedagogies, advising undergraduate majors, multicultural education, involving students in research, and departmental and university governance.  The Saint Francis University Psychology department has a strong track record in mentoring students for entry into graduate programs and for immediate post-graduate employment.  Psychology faculty members also have the opportunity to participate in various other curricular and co-curricular programs, including an interdisciplinary Social Responsibility Minor, an interdisciplinary Neuroscience Minor, and a nationally recognized general education program. 

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in clinical or community psychology (qualified ABDs will be considered); licensure eligible.

Nursing Department Senior Faculty / Chairperson

Saint Francis University invites applications for Chairperson of the University’s Department of Nursing.   Qualified candidates will possess senior faculty member (associate or full professor) status with extensive higher-education administrative and teaching experience. Accelerated eligibility toward tenure is possible depending on candidate qualifications.  This position is a 12-month appointment and is available July 1, 2008.

Ph.D. in nursing, or a doctorate in a related field and master’s degree in a nursing specialty, required along with a proven successful record of teaching and organizational leadership in a college or university setting.  Current active licensure as a registered nurse in Pennsylvania, or eligibility for licensure, is required.   Professional nursing experience and excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. Expertise in securing grants and other external funding is desirable.

The chairperson will teach undergraduate courses in Nursing, participate in the University's General Education program, advise students, maintain scholarship and service activities, mentor Nursing departmental faculty, and maintain CCNE accreditation status.

Director, University Police

Saint Francis University invites applications for Director of University Police to begin immediately.

The Director reports to the Director of Marketing and Community Affairs and is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, operation, and daily management of the University Police Department.  The Director works with other campus officials and acts as an advisor to other segments of the campus on law enforcement, security, emergency preparedness and crime prevention issues.  The Director maintains excellent relationships with local fire and emergency response agencies, and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and other professional organizations.

A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field, five years of work experience in law enforcement or public safety (higher education experience a plus), and certification as a sworn officer or ability to obtain certification is required. Applicants are expected to possess an extensive working knowledge of law enforcement activities, facility security, crime prevention, criminal investigations, fire prevention, emergency preparedness, traffic safety and enforcement; a working knowledge of local, state and federal laws as applied to university law enforcement; excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills; excellent administrative and organizational skills; and hold a valid driver’s license.  The successful candidate must be committed to a philosophy of providing friendly, knowledgeable service and assistance to the campus community and surrounding areas, and be committed to and promote the University’s Mission and Franciscan values.

Saint Francis University, a Division I member of the Northeast Conference, has extended our search for the full-time position of Head Women’s Volleyball Coach.

The successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of a Division I women’s volleyball program, including but not limited to:  Representing the Eight Goals of Franciscan Higher Education, recruiting, scheduling, budget management, NCAA compliance, mentoring of an assistant coach, and development of student-athletes.  

A bachelor’s degree is required (master’s degree preferred).  College coaching experience or the equivalent is required for this position.  Collegiate playing experience is preferred for this position.

Saint Francis University’s Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Under-Served Areas (CERMUSA) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Programmer/Systems Analyst.  This position is responsible for the design and support of web (Internet) based activities for the CERMUSA project.  Duties include:  website development, database administration, and multimedia content creation.  Must have proven ability in web design and experience in Windows administration (IIS), XHTML. CSS, JavaScript, web development, PHP, Perl, and SQL programming, MySQL database administration, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, and Flash Video Encoder, and Adobe Photoshop.  Demonstrated knowledge of virtual server software a plus.
