Mission Statement
The Counseling Center will reflect the mission statement of the College, and the Division of Student Development, while blending the professional standards and guidelines outlined in the CAS Standards.
The Counseling Center will provide assessment, intervention, treatment, and referral for psychological and emotional difficulties to the College community. Educational programming will be offered to the campus, focusing on key student development issues and reflecting concern for the holistic health and wellness of students and staff. Counseling Center staff will be available to the entire college community for consultation, intervention planning, and referral information. Promotional activity will support high visibility to the Center, encouraging and supporting early intervention and utilization by the entire campus community.
The Intercept Program will emphasize the danger substance abuse causes in the social, physical, psychological, and vocational health of students and staff. Through prevention and educational programming, the Intercept Program will illustrate the risks involved in underage drinking, illicit drug use, alcohol abuse, and tobacco use. Assessment, treatment, and referral services will be offered to the campus community. Strategies will be developed and initiated that facilitate the development of a campus culture of responsibility to use and respect for others.
