Cale Nelson was one of two players to start all 29 games for the Red Flash in 2007-08...finished fourth on the team in scoring (10.0 ppg) and led the squad in assists (113)...quick and smart guard with excellent ball handling skills...will be counted on to continue to distribute the ball as he did last season.

Junior Year (2007-08)

 Ranked eighth in the Northeast Conference with 3.90 assists per game, ninth in 3-point field goals made with 1.97 per game, and 10th in assist-to-turnover ration (1.19)...had 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists at Penn State (11/12)...had 21 points and 3 assists to break out of an early season slump vs. Lehigh (11/17)...contributed 12 points and 4 assists and was perfect at the charity stripe (4-for-4) at La Salle (11/24)...scored a career high 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting and added 2 rebounds and 1 assist vs. Youngstown State (11/28)...had 14 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists in win at Bucknell (12/1)...scored 10 points, had 7 assists and made 5-of-6 free throw attempts in 37 minutes of action despite feeling ill in NEC-opening win at Robert Morris (12/8)...had 11 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in win over Lock Haven (12/15)...tallied 15 pionts, 4 rebounds and 4 assists vs. Iona (12/19)...had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists at Duquesne (12/21)...tallied 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists against Monmouth (1/5)...scored 20 points and added 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds at CCSU (1/10)...tallied 17 points and 6 assists at Wagner (1/12)...had 9 points, 6 assists, and a steal vs. RMU (1/19)...scored 10 of his 13 points in triple overtime, and added a career high 9 assists and 4 rebounds, in a NEC vicotry over SFC (1/24)...tallied 17 points and 3 assists to help lead SFU to last-second win over CCSU (1/26)...had 9 points and 4 assists in win at SFC (2/14)... pitched in 7 points, 5 asssists and 1 steal vs. Wagner (2/21)...tallied 11 points on 4-7 shooting to go with 2 rebounds and 1 steal against Mount St. Mary's (2/23).

Sophomore Year (2006-07)

Cale Nelson ranked 11th in the NEC with 3.55 apg and fifth with a 1.54  assist-to-turnover ratio in his first action since 2004-05...was third in the NEC with an .863 free throw percentage (63-of-73), and led SFU with 103 assists...Red Flash were 6-4 with Nelson as a starter in 2006-07...returned from his redshirt year to earn his first career start, posting a career high 13 points and 4 assists to go along with a steal, in SFU’s 94-60 season-opening win over Lock Haven (11/18/06). He was 4-of-5 from the field, and made both of his free throw attempts...had a career game with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals to lead SFU to a 76-54 thrashing of St. Bonaventure (11/20/06)...scored 5 points, and dished out a then-career high 6 assists, against La Salle (11/25/06)...scored 8 points and dished out a career high 9 assists at Howard (11/27/06)...had 9 points and career-tying 9 assists against Bucknell (11/29/06)...made a pair of free throws with 1.1 seconds remaining to help SFU defeat St. Francis-NY in NEC opener (12/7/06)...set career high with 22 points to go along with 5 assists and 3 rebounds at Sacred Heart (12/9/06)...contributed 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in just 20 minutes in win over Liberty (12/16/06)...scored 20 points with a career high six 3-pointers at American (1/2/07)...tallied 14 points and 7 assists against Quinnipiac (1/6/07)...had 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists at Mount St. Mary’s (2/8/07)...came within one assist of first career double-double with 12 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds in win over St. Francis-NY (2/15/07)...scored all 14 points in the second half, and added a career high 8 rebounds, against Wagner (2/17/07)...led team with 19 points, and added 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in win at Quinnipiac (2/22/07)...had a team-high 19 points to go with 5 rebounds and 7 assists in win over LIU (2/24/07).

Redshirt Year (2005-06)

Nelson used his redshirt season to improve his game, and concentrate on academics.

Freshman Year (2004-05)

Saw action in 19 games as a true freshman, averaging 6.4 mpg and 1.4 ppg...had a career high 10 points vs. Robert Morris (1/27/05).

Big Springs HS

Earned first team Class AAA Associated Press all-state honors as a senior at Big Springs High School, averaging 23.6 ppg and 5.0 apg...earned third-team all-state distinction as a junior...voted Public Opinion Player-of-the-Year in 2003 and 2005...also selected to Harrisburg Patriot News’ Big 15 all-star team...school record-holder in scoring (1,365) and 3-pointers (187)...holds Big Springs single-season records in scoring (543 points) and scoring average (23.6 ppg), and single-game marks in assists (13) and steals (7)...also holds school’s assist records for a season and career.
