Community Enrichment Series

CES calendar

The Community Enrichment Series (CES) broadens students' cultural perspectives, raises awareness of current and/or historical issues, and promotes conversation about ideas and values.  The Series includes various out-of-class experiences, such as musical and theatrical performances, guest lectures, and films that advance the objectives of the General Education Program at Saint Francis University.

The Community Enrichment Series is part of the first-year student experience at Saint Francis University.  Students are required to attend a total of twelve Community Enrichment Series events during their first year at Saint Francis.  Many Community Enrichment Series events are also appropriate for a broader audience, including the entire University community and members of the larger community of which Saint Francis is a part.  Faculty are strongly encouraged to attend CES events and to require students enrolled in their courses to attend events that connect to their courses’ learning objectives.

Community Enrichment Series Policies

Any faculty or staff member sponsoring an out-of-class event that meets the objectives of the General Education Program may apply for CES credit for the event.  Click on the link below to access the on-line application form for Community Enrichment Series credit:

The list of approved CES events is updated regularly throughout the semester.  Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to check the list of approved CES events periodically throughout the semester.

In order to receive CES credit for attending an event, students must sign in at the beginning of the event, stay for the entire event, and turn in attendance slips to the CES worker.  The General Education Program records CES attendance for all students.  Students having questions about their CES attendance may contact Ms. Bev Bender, the General Education Office Assistant, in Scotus 213-B at x3149 during normal business hours.
