Saint Francis University Announces Dedication of Immergrun Golf Shop in Memory of Bob Hahn

LORETTO, Pa. (July 24, 2007) – Saint Francis University will hold a celebration in memory of former head men’s golf coach and Immergrun Golf Pro, Bob Hahn, beginning at 8 a.m. this Saturday.

During its annual Alumni Weekend celebration activities, the university will dedicate and re-name the Immergrun Golf Course’s pro shop in memory of Hahn, who passed away in March.  The Bob Hahn Golf Shop will be dedicated during a ceremony at 8 a.m. at the golf shop at Immergrun Golf Course.

The media and general public are encouraged to attend to pay tribute to one of Saint Francis’ all-time greats. For more information on Saturday’s dedication, please call Marjorie McHenry at 814-472-3286. Saint Francis University President Father Gabriel Zeis, T.O.R., Director of Athletics Bob Krimmel, and other university dignitaries will be available for interviews at the ceremony. Other interview requests can be obtained through Saint Francis Director of Athletic Communications Bob Volkert by calling 814-472-3128.

“Bob Hahn is sorely missed at our university and in the community, but his spirit lives on,” Krimmel said. “Bob meant a great deal to this university and to the thousands of students, faculty and staff who have passed through during the past 37 years. He has left a lasting impression on us, and it is with great pride that we honor him and his family by naming Saint Francis University’s golf shop in his memory.”

Hahn, who was the 2005-06 Northeast Conference Men’s Golf Coach-of-the-Year, was hired by former University President Father Vincent Negherbon, T.O.R. in the spring of 1970 as head men’s golf coach and Golf Pro at the Immergrun Golf Club. He was in his 37th year with the University.

Well respected among his peers, Hahn was inducted into the Saint Francis University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001 in recognition of his contributions and dedication to the Red Flash athletics program.
