Red Flash’s Lewis Named to 2009 Sports Network Preseason All-America Second Team

Loretto, Pa. (July 10, 2009) - Saint Francis football player Scott Lewis (South Fork, Pa./Bishop McCort) has been named to the 2009 Sports Network Preseason All-America Second Team Defense, as announced by the Sports Network on Thursday.

As a sophomore in 2008, Lewis earned All-NEC honors as he broke the conference and school records with 142 total tackles. That mark ranked second in the nation at the end of the season. Lewis also tied the single-game national high with 23 stops against Wagner on October 18.

In May, Lewis was named a CDC Preseason All-American Honorable Mention. Teammates Matthew Parker (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk) and Cody Kekipi (Waimanalo, Hawaii/Punahou) also received the honor.

Lewis was one of three players from the Northeast Conference to be honored. Monmouth’s David Sinisi and Albany's David McCarty were both  named to the third team offense. Two of the Red Flash’s opponents for the 2009 season, New Hampshire and Northern Iowa, also had players on the list.

The Red Flash open their season on September 5 in Durham, N.H., where they will take on the New Hampshire Wildcats.
