Red Flash Swimming Named Scholar All-American Team
LORETTO, Pa. (July 2, 2009) – The Saint Francis swim team has been named a Division I Scholar-All American Team by College Swimming Coaches Association of America, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
With a team grade-point average of 3.41, the Red Flash ranked 25th among the 109 teams recognized. Rice University took top honors for the women with a GPA of 3.62. A team must have a GPA of 3.0 to qualify for All-American honors.
“We take pride in the fact that as a team, we truly define the term 'scholar-athlete,'“ said head coach Pat Gallagher. “I’m very impressed with the effort they put forth both in the pool and the classroom. It’s a huge honor to not only receive this acknowledgment of their hard work, but to know that we rank among the top teams in the country.”
