 Davis, Hoffman Garner NEC Honors

LORETTO, Pa. (April 29, 2009) – Saint Francis track & field athletes Jorden Davis (Mississauga, Ontario) and Anna Hoffman (Enon Valley, Pa./Mohawk) have been named the Road Runner Sports/Northeast Conference Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes-of-the-Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Davis, the NEC’s reigning 400-meter indoor champion, appears poised to add an outdoor title to his resume.  He logged the conference’s fastest quarter-mile (47.37) this season while racing to a first-place finish at the third annual Red Flash Open.  In addition to his IC4A-qualifying 400-meter time, the Davis was the 200-meter runner-up in what was his final tune-up before the 2009 NEC Outdoor Championships presented by Road Runner Sports.

Already owning the Northeast Conference’s top 5000-meter time, Hoffman took over the league lead in a second event at this past weekend on her home track.  The three-time NEC 5K champion (two indoor, one outdoor) ran a shorter race this past weekend but produced similar results.  Hoffman completed the 1500-meter run in 4:42.29 to finish second overall, and first amongst collegians, in a 39-finisher field.

Davis and Hoffman will join the rest of their Red Flash teammates in West Long Branch, N.J., where they will compete in the 2009 NEC Outdoor Championships on the campus of Monmouth University.
