Saint Francis Finishes Fifth at Northeast Conference Championship
HERSHEY, Pa. – The Saint Francis women’s golf team carded a third-round 335 and finished with a 338-309-335-982 to finish fifth at the 2009 Northeast Conference Championship, which was held in Hershey.
Fairleigh Dickinson won the team title with a 311-299-310-920, while Long Island took second (321-316-306-943), Sacred Heart finished third (319-313-313-945) and Robert Morris came in fourth (328-335-315-978).
Sophomore Caryn Doege (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) finished in 12th to lead the Red Flash after tallying an 82-77-81-240.
Freshman Skylar Hay (Easton, Pa. / Freedom) carded a three-day 83-77-85-245 to finish in a tie for 17th, junior Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) tied for 23rd with a 81-78-89-248, and sophomore Kaitlin Hensal (Seville, Ohio / Wadsworth) was 29th after shooting a 92-77-85-254. Sophomore Laura Smith (State Line, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) took 41st with a 94-98-84-276.
SFU concluded its season with its 11th consecutive Top-5 finish at the Northeast Conference championships. The team looks to return intact in the fall with no seniors on the 2008-09 roster.
