Red Flash Alum Brian Sell Finishes 14th at Boston Marathon
BOSTON, Mass. (April 21, 2009) – Former Saint Francis track and cross-country standout Brian Sell was the 14th finisher overall and the second American to cross the line at the Boston Marathon on Monday in Boston, Mass.
Wearing bib number 16, Sell completed the 26.2 miles in 2:16.31. Deriba Merga of Ethiopia took top honors with a time of 2:08.42. Ryan Hall of California was the first American to finish, coming in third with a time of 2:09.40.
Sell placed fourth in the 2006 Boston Marathon with a time of 2:10.55.
This past August, Sell represented Team USA at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing after placing third at the Olympic Trials with a time of 2:11.40. He ran a 2:16.07 in Beijing, placing 22nd overall.
