Red Flash Take Fourth at IUP Invite
INDIANA, Pa. (April 14, 2009) – Led by Mike Magalski (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) for the second week in a row, the Saint Francis men’s golf team shot 291 on the second day of competition and grabbed fourth place at the Indiana University Invite in Indiana, Pa., on Tuesday. The Red Flash finished with a two-day score of 299-291-590.
Magalski ended two days of play with a score of 76-69-145, earning sixth place. Teammate Joey Amelia (Chatham, Ontario/Chatham-Kent Secondary) was close behind in eighth place, shooting 74-72-146.
Tyler Straub (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) finished 20th with score of 74-75-149. Dylan Holwell (Calgary, Alberta/The Edge School for Athletes) and Vincent Adams (Broisbrian, Quebec/John Abbot College) tied for 28th place with identical final scores of 151. Holwell shot 76-75-151, while Adams shot 75-76-151.
Concord University took the top team spot with a score of 289-288-577, while Jared Schmader of Clarion had the lowest score of the invite, shooting 68-71-139 to grab first.
The Red Flash will travel to Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Invitational on April 18-19 for their final tune up before heading to Florida for the Northeast Conference Championships May 1-3.
