Saint Francis Finishes 11th at Winthrop Intercollegiate
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore Caryn Doege (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) carded a team-best 85 on the third and final day at the Winthrop Intercollegiate to lead the Saint Francis women’s golf team to an 11th-place showing in the 12-team event at Rock Hill Country Club.
The Red Flash finished with a team score of 357-365-366-1088 to take 11th. Yale fired a final round 309 to jump from third place to the team title with a 322-308-309-939. Winthrop finished second, Oral Roberts was third, Minnesota took fourth and Gardner-Webb finished fifth.
Doege finished in a tie for 42nd with a 83-89-85-257. Freshman Skyler Hay (Easton, Pa. / Freedom) took 59th with 91-94-94-279, sophomore Kaitlin Hensal (Seville, Ohio / Wadsworth) finished 60th with 88-97-95-280, junior Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) took 63rd with a 95-94-92, and sophomore Laura Smith (State Line, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) finished 67th with 98-88-107. Sophomore Michelle Wetzel (Sewickley, Pa. / North Allegheny) finished with 104-111-101.
The Red Flash will be back in action next week when they travel to the Tina Barrett Longwood Intercollegiate, on Monday and Tuesday.
