Red Flash Golfers in 18th Place at George Washington Invitational
BETHANY BEACH, Del. (March 20, 2009) – The Saint Francis men’s golf team sits in 18th place after Day One of the George Washington Invitational in Bethany Beach, Delaware.
Tyler Straub is tied for 43rd after shooting a combined score of 40-39-79 this afternoon. Teammate Dylan Holwell (Calgary, Alberta/The Edge School for Athletes) is right behind him, tied for 48th with scores of 39-41-80.
Vincent Adams (Broisbrian, Quebec/John Abbott College) shot 39-43-82, good enough for 67th place. Joey Amelia (Chatham, Ontario/Chatham-Kent Secondary) and Adam Simpson (London, Ontario/Oakridge Secondary School) are 99th and 111th, respectively. Amelia shot 45-42-87 while Simpson finished with a combined score of 46-43-89.
The invite will continue with Day Two tomorrow. Due to the number of participants, the tournament has been shortened to 36 holes instead of 54. The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow.
