Red Flash Women’s Golf Team Finishes Sixth at Colonial Classic
PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2008) – Junior Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) finished in 18th to lead the Saint Francis women’s golf team to a sixth-place finish after two days at the Holiday Inn Colonial Classic, which was played at Montour Heights Country Club.
Kocin carded a two-day 89-85-175 to help SFU finish in sixth with a 354-347-701.
Youngstown State was the team winner with a 321-327-648, while IUPUI finished second (346-319-665), Fairfield finished third (346-337-683), Chicago State took fourth (349-338-687) and Mount St. Mary’s rounded out the top five (347-344-691).
Sophomore Laura Smith (State Line, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) finished in a tie for 23rd for the Red Flash. She fired an 89-88-177, freshman Skylar Hay (Easton, Pa. / Freedom) took 27th with a 91-87-178, sophomore Caryn Doege (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) took 29th with an 85-95-180, and junior Katelyn Waghorn finished 36th with a 99-87-186.
Sophomore Kaitlin Hensal (Seville, Ohio / Wadsworth) also competed as an individual in the tournament, and finished tied for 19th with an 87-88-175.
Saint Francis will wrap up its fall schedule when it travels to Mount St. Mary’s for a tournament on Oct. 27-28.
