Red Flash Tied For Fifth After First Day at Holiday Inn Colonial Classic
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2008) – The Saint Francis men’s golf team fired a first-round 319 to sit in a tie for fifth place after the first day of the Holiday Inn Colonial Classic, which is being held at the Montour Heights Country Club.
Clarion leads the event after carding a 302, while IUPUI is in second (303), Robert Morris is in third (306) and Fairfield is in fourth (312). Mount St. Mary’s is tied with Saint Francis for fifth place. The second, and final, round tees off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Junior Mike Magalski (Spring Grove, Pa. / Spring Grove) paced the Red Flash on Day 1 with a 77, which is good for 12th place. Freshman Joey Amelia (Chatham, Ontario, Canada / Chatham-Kent Secondary) is in 21st with a 79, freshman Dylan Holwell (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / The Edge School for Athletes) is in 23rd with an 80, and freshmen Adam Simpson (London, Ontario, Canada / Oakridge Secondary School) Vincent Adams (Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada / John Abbott College) are tied for 39th after first-round 83’s.
