Red Flash in Sixth Place After First Day at Holiday Inn Colonial Classic
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2008) – Saint Francis sophomore Caryn Doege (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) carded a first-round 85 and sits in a tie for ninth place after the first day of the Holiday Inn Colonial Classic, which is being held at the Montour Heights Country Club.
The Red Flash women’s golf team fired a first-round 354 and sit in sixth place. Youngstown State carded a 321 and is in first. IUPUI and Fairfield are tied for second (346), Mount St. Mary’s is in fourth (347), and Chicago State is in fifth (349). It was a tough day on the greens for the entire field as the course played 17 strokes over par on average.
Junior Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) sits in a tie for 21st with teammate Laura Smith (State Line, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim). Both carded an 89 on the first day. Freshman Skylar Hay (Easton, Pa. / Freedom) shot a 91 and is in a tie for 25th, and junior Katelyn Waghorn (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) is in 38th after a first-round 99.
The second, and final, round tees off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
