SFU ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION OF FIELD HOCKEY COACH LIZ DESIMAS
LORETTO, Pa. (May 16, 2008) – Saint Francis University Director of Athletics Bob Krimmel announced on Friday afternoon that head women’s field hockey coach Liz deSimas has submitted her letter of resignation.
deSimas has chosen to embark on other opportunities outside of the university.
“I would like to thank Liz deSimas for her commitment and dedication to Red Flash athletics and our field hockey program over the past four years,” Krimmel said. “I wish her the best of luck as she moves forward in her career.”
deSimas is coming off a 2007 season in which her team finished 4-12 overall, and 4-3 in the Northeast Conference. The seven-year-old Red Flash field hockey program had a total of three wins in its first six years, but deSimas doubled that total with her four-win season. She also gave the program its first-ever winning season in league play, as well as its first NEC Tournament berth. She was named the NEC’s Field Hockey Coach-of-the-Year for her efforts.
Krimmel indicated that a national search for deSimas’ replacement will begin immediately.
