Red Flash Close EIVA Tait Division Play With Key Victory at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (April 4, 2008) – Sophomores Nick Rivett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) and Jordan Varee (Meadville, Pa. / Conneaut Valley) combined for 41 kills and 46.0 points to lead the Saint Francis men’s volleyball team to a 3-1 EIVA-finale victory over East Stroudsburg on Friday night.

Rivett posted 20 kills, one service ace and five digs, while Varee added 21 kills on a .375 hitting percentage to go with three aces, nine digs and two blocks to lead the Red Flash to the 30-23, 28-30, 30-25, 30-25 win.

Saint Francis improved to 11-13 overall and 6-6 in the EIVA Tait Division with its second consecutive road victory. The Red Flash have already clinched a berth in the EIVA playoffs, but this victory clinched at least the fourth seed, and a home playoff match, in the upcoming playoffs.

Junior Shane Conley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) dished out 33 assists in the match, while senior Mark Steele (Martinsburg, Pa. / Central Martinsburg) added 13. Sophomore Patrick McManamon (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon) hit .455 in the match with five kills and no errors on 11 swings. He added one ace and five blocks.
