Ashli Schwab, a player under Susan Robinson Fruchtl at Penn State during the 2004-05 season, begins her first season on her former mentor’s staff as an assistant coach. Schwab will work mainly with post players at Saint Francis, but also plays a key role in the program’s scheduling and scouting efforts in addition to coordinating the team’s camps and alumni programs.
Before arriving at Saint Francis, Schwab served as the head girl’s basketball coach at Penn Manor High School, where she was also a 9th and 10th grade Health and Physical Education teacher, during the 2006-07 school year.
Prior to being named the head coach at Penn Manor, she was the head coach of the 8th grade girl’s team for one season at Centerville Middle School in the Hempfield School District. Schwab has also assisted with Penn State Lady Lion summer basketball camps, as well as at Eastern Lebanon County High School.
Schwab was a member of the 2003 and 2004 Big Ten Conference championship teams, and helped the Lady Lions reach the NCAA Elite Eight in 2004, as well as the Sweet 16 in 2002 and 2003. She was an Academic all-Big Ten selection during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons at Penn State, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Teacher Preparation.
