Miller's 13 Kills and Eight Digs Earn Saint Francis a Dominant 3-0 Victory Over Wagner

Loretto, Pa. (10/21/07) – Sophomore Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) led Saint Francis University by drilling 13 total kills in the Red Flash’s 3-0 conference sweep of the Wagner College Seahawks by a tally of 30-16, 30-20, 30-28.

Miller also led the way in digs with eight.  Junior Kristin Buter (Bowie, Md./Bowie) also chalked up eight digs in the dominant performance by Saint Francis.  Buter also burned the opponent for three aces (most for SFU on the day) as well as earning 10 kills against the Seahawks.  With Saint Francis’ dominant play all around the court, Wagner College only held the lead during the third game of the match.

Freshman Christine Breisch (Edwardsburgh, Mich./Edwardsburg) also made eight defensive digs.  First-year outside hitter Rachel Capizzi (Saint Louis, Mo./Mehlville) sent two laser-like aces Wagner’s way in Saint Francis’ second conference win of the season.

The Red Flash will stay in Loretto for their non-conference match against the Bucknell Bison Wedesday, October 24th on at 7:00pm.  The Red Flash are now 8-17 on the season and 2-1 in Northeast Conference play.
