Red Flash Don't Travel Far for Inaugural Home Tournament-Currently in 3rd place after Round 1

Ebensburg, Pa. – The Saint Francis women’s golf team did not have to travel far for their second tournament of the 2007 fall season.  Ebensburg Country Club (Ebensburg, Pa.) and Immergrun Golf Course (Loretto, Pa.) were the host tracks for the 1st Annual Saint Francis Red Flash Invitational.  The Red Flash played host to Youngstown State University, Robert Morris University and Mount St. Mary’s University in the Saint Francis Red Flash Invitational.  This home meet for the ladies of SFU is a two-day, 36-hole tournament held at two different courses.

On Sunday, Sept. 23, the four teams teed off at Ebensburg Country Club for the first 18 holes of the Invitational.

Senior Samantha Milosh turned in the lowest card for Saint Francis with an 85, placing her 5th overall after round one of competition.  Ahead of Milosh were four members from Youngstown State, giving the Penguins a comfortable 38 shot lead heading into round two with a team total of 326 strokes.

Robert Morris was in second place with a total effort of 364, while Saint Francis was just three strokes behind RMU by making 367.  Mount St. Mary’s will have some ground to make up as they sit at a cumulative 388.

The Red Flash had five players in the Top 20 after round one.  Lisa Kocin was tied for 13th with a 93, Caryn Doege sat at 15th with a 94, Stephanie Switzer made a 95 which put her in a tie at 16th, and Laura Smith was deadlocked in 18th with RMU’s Ashleigh Frieday after she fired off a 96.

The Red Flash and visiting competitors will make their way to Immergrun Golf Course, Saint Francis’ home golf course in Loretto, Pa., on Monday, Sept. 24 for a 9:00am shotgun start for round two of the Saint Francis Red Flash Invitational.
