Erin Reifsteck Turns in an 18-Save Gem in Loss at URI
KINGSTON, R.I. (Sept. 7, 2007) – Junior goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) posted a career-high 18 saves at the University of Rhode Island on Friday, but the offense couldn’t convert scoring opportunities into points resulting in a tough 1-0 loss for the Red Flash.
Just five days after a 17-save performance vs. Drexel, Reifsteck one-upped herself, establishing the program’s new third-best mark for save-in-a-game. Just three games into the season the junior keeper has 49 saves moving her career save total to 251 – just 30 shy of Kristen Onto’s program record 281.
The Saint Francis attack managed only five shots on goal on the day, with junior Belen Albanes (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) firing two of them.
The Red Flash return to action on Sunday when the visit Holy Cross for a noon contest.
